Broken Planet
Broken Planet is an Absurd Cabaret of Apocalyptic Proportions that has been touring Chicago and Edinburgh since 2023.
Joel joined the company for their February show at Uncle Art Gallery and has taken on various technical and performance roles for the show.
The show pulls on the experiences of its performers from around Chicago’s alt-comedy scene, including circus and physical theatre performers, stand-up comics, and many (many) company members of the late Blue Man Group.
Broken Planet performed for the entirety of Edinburgh Fringe Festival in July-August 2024, which included a very nice birthday present for Joel in the form of an Irn-Bru and a hat he’s wearing right now.
Chipchats
CHIPChats is a PowerPoint comedy show loosely based on TED Talks - but where TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design, CHIP stands for Comedy, Hilarity, Insanity, and Pointlessness.
Joel has been a member of the cast of ChipChats since the beginning of its open run at the Annoyance Theater and Bar, which also means he is a writer of the show - writing for both himself to present and other Chips to improvise.
This run of ChipChats opened in May of 2023 at the Annoyance and has been granted an open run Tuesdays at 7, moving to Fridays at 7 in June, and now bi-weekly Saturdays at 8 and beyond due to its impressive attendance rates and accessibility to guest performers and wider audiences alike.
