Blue Man Group

Beginning in March of 2020 (and reopening in August 2021), Joel was a member of the Front of House Staff for Blue Man Group Chicago, which became a springboard for his future professional endeavors. This opportunity fulfilled many lifelong dreams for Joel, and has granted him the time and opportunity to explore himself creatively while having a safe professional home.

In June of 2022, Joel joined the production side as a Musical Instrument Technician, which is responsible for the maintenance of the drums used throughout the show. As part of the team, Joel performed weekly inspections and repairs to every drum used by the Blue Men and the band throughout the show. Joel also changed drum heads, cleaned paint and stick chips, and logged inventory to keep the music going.

In January 2025, Joel was fortunate enough to put this show to rest with his heroes during its closure. He is incredibly thankful to everyone.

Wendella Architecture Tour

Joel is part of the fleet of tour guides for Wendella boats. He started in the class of 2024 and has been giving tours in rain, snow, sleet, or hail ever since. Kindled by his love for the city that embraced him with open arms, Joel is humbled by the privilege and honor to share the history and design of Chicago with people all over the world.

The 90-minute tours may be daunting for Joel, but even more daunting is the task of listening to Joel talk for 90 minutes straight. Good luck to you!
